Default Bugged World Mission Mob?

Not quite sure how to explain this, but I'm on a World Mission (#6, I believe. The Werewolf I am attacking is level 45, and located in Yucatan.)

For some reason, his Willpower attack hits me, although my Willpower is 370, yet his is 333. I have a 37 point advantage, yet he still ravages me instead of my cursing him. Is this bugged or is their an underlying factor I'm just not seeing?

He does have higher strength and dexterity, but I thought it was Willpower vs Willpower, alone, for the "Preemptive Strike" A little confused that he is winning the willpower roll with a 37 point difference in my favor.

Stats are currently:
Level 39:
Strength: 347 - [Damage] 3648-4649
Dexterity: 357 - [Attack] 1635
Willpower: 399 - [Curse] 15,972
Constitution: 334 - [Vitality] 17,086

This is with a Vitality and Stat potion, mind you. So...Still not sure why he's trumping me with Willpower...Maybe next attack I'll get him (Upgraded some of my armor, and weapon.) -- If not, I'll send in a ticket.

I realize, my stats aren't as high is his, and that I'm not "destined" to win, my concern is that my Willpower was nearly 40 points higher than his, yet his went through instead of mine.

Its possible that he actually has a larger roar than your curse. The fight screen just shows the values for your stats i.e. it shows your willpower, but not your curse. He is a higher level than you 45 to 39 and this could be in the formula, giving him a higher roar than your curse. The formula may even be different for vampires and werewolves.

I was thinking that too, but if I'm not mistaken, Vampire's have a higher Willpower than Werewolves (Who excel in strength) shouldn't that mean that my Curse gets a higher bonus from what Willpower I have, opposed to his roar, but his weapon damage should be greater. Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe my assumption is off.

If your curse was boosted to offset vampires cheaper willpower, there wouldn't be any point in giving different classes these differences as they'd cancel out.

From my rough formula for calculating curse, it is:

(level + 1) x willpower = curse

For your stats at the time of that fight, assuming you were level 39 at that time:

(39 + 1) x 370 = 14800

Werewolf's:

(45 + 1) x 333 = 15318

So he would win.

An example of my formula for your current stats on your profile:

(40 + 1) x 381 = 15620 (actual 15650, error = 30)

I know its not right, but its close.

I follow you. My brain is working on 3 hours of sleep last night, freakin' insomnia slapped me hard today.

But what I don't understand, is that Vampire's are said to gain 2 Willpower per level, as that's their "Specialty", Werewolves gain 2 Strength, as it's their specialty, and Hunters gain 2 Dexterity. It would seem to me that those strengths would be reflected by going to what those stats impact (Willpower -> Curse/Roar/Hunter, Strength -> Weapon Damage, and Dexterity -> Attack) So if these "Strengths" were true strengths, and not just an extra point you gain when you level. It seems silly to have claims of each Faction having a "specialization", because if it's TRULY a "Strength" / "Specialization" then in a fight with a Werewolf against a Vampire with equal Willpower, the Vampire should win out [In terms of the Willpower Check].

That would seem to make sense to me, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to not grant them full superiority in their respective "Strength"

And it'd be sweet to see "Goblins" come in, with Charisma bonus, and Dwarves/Orcs/Golems for the remaining Constitution Bonus

I think the advantage you have is that it is easier to achieve a high willpower value by being given an extra free points as you level up and that they are cheaper to buy. Once you have them, they are worth the same as a werewolf's or hunter's willpower points.

Your way would make sense too, but that seems to be the way they've done it in this game.

Hmm, still, by your math, if I had the same Willpower as the Werewolf, he still would of won the fight. Doesn't make sense to me that a Vampire's innate ability favors Willpower, but the werewolf gets a stronger "Roar" than I get with Curse.

*EDIT* Wow. Just realized, and re-read your math. It's the same formula. He is just 6 levels higher, and thus gets the advantage. Gotcha.

Can you tell I need sleep?

Still, would make more sense if the Vamp's Willpower check was (Level + 2) * (Willpower) = Curse, where a Werewolf or Hunter's would be (Level + 1) * (Willpower) = Roar/Hunter's Will Attack.

And to balance it, a Werewolf would have (Level + 2) * (Strength) = Damage to keep it "balanced"

Although I still would have lost, it would make more sense to me were those the equations, further solidifying a concept of "advantage" in those skills.

I know what you mean about different formulas for each type.

Just for fun, here's my attempt at damage formula. Only tested for vampires so far:

Damage = weapon_damage x (Strength + Level / 4) / 10

An example from a previous weapon I had:
Pistol damage 116-156, level 42, strength 424

Minimum damage = (116 x (424 + 42/4)) / 10 = 5040.2
Maximum damage = (156 x (424 + 42/4)) / 10 = 6778.2

Character screen damage: 5041-6780
Error: 0.8 - 1.8

Maybe not a good example as my strength was almost 10 x my level at that time.

Again not perfect, some times closer than others but give it a go.
